Potatoes vs. Sweet Potatoes

White Potatoes are known to be very starchy and we are often suggested to eat potatoes in moderation.  The question that arises is: are sweet potatoes healthier than white potatoes?

In certain aspects White Potatoes do have some benefits.  They are high in Vitamin C, Folate, Vitamin B6, Potassium, and Manganese.  In 100 grams of White Potatoes there are 21.5 grams carbs, while in Sweet Potatoes it is only 20.7 grams of carbs.

Sweet Potatoes are very high in Vitamin-A like most orange vegetables and have a lower calorie count than regular potatoes.  Sweet Potatoes also have a higher Fiber content and lower glycemic index, not causing such a sharp increase in blood sugar like regular potatoes.
